Hi there, I’m Mar.
I am the calligraphy artist behind Marmade Design Co.
My initial “training” in calligraphy started in my grandmother's living room. As a kid, she taught me to practice my penmanship and draw letters before I even knew what the art form was called. In between doing my homework and watching Sailor Moon, I'd sit and design my own handwriting styles for fun.
Fast forward to 2015...
In search of an artistic outlet outside of my day job, I took my first copperplate-style calligraphy class. From there, my passion for creating art with words blossomed. (See also: I purchased every calligraphy and lettering tool I could find in the store and practiced on any surface around the house).
In 2018, I officially started my small business. With Marmade Design Co., I use my art to elevate weddings, special events, and in-studio commissions. I aim to help my clients make their vision a reality, one hand-lettered piece at a time. I've worked with brands and businesses including Anthrologie, Aspire TV, and Cardinale Winery.
Fun facts...
- By day, I am a full-time project manager with work experiences in media, non-profit, and tech.
- I am a dog mama of two sassy, Shih Tzu sisters.
- I enjoy doing puzzles, collecting sneakers, going to the library, and visiting museums.
